What is a Dental Appliance?

Maintaining good oral health is more than simply flossing and brushing your teeth. For individuals who play sports, who clench and grind their teeth, and who snore, dental appliances are able to help preserve and protect our oral structures and the health of our entire bodies.

The dental appliances we offer at Highmoor Dental, from mouth guards for sports and sleep to snoring appliances, are used the help you improve and protect your oral health.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can disrupt your sleep and negatively impact your overall health and wellbeing.

For our patients who snore, the relaxed tissues of their throat can cause their airway to constrict and create the snoring sound as oxygen is forced through. For patients with sleep apnea, their throat over-relaxes and obstructs their airways, forcing their brain to wake up to allow them to breath.

At Highmoor Dental, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. This helps improve your flow of breath and prevents you from waking up throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

We offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If your are struck in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard will be able to provide a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissues of your mouth to protect your smile.

Night Guards

If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a mouth guard will help to protect your teeth from damage. If your clench your jaw, a mouth guard will additionally help you to prevent clenching and relieve associated pain.
